Joguinho
A downloadable game for Windows
This is my first 'Big Game', with over 15 hours of total gameplay! Yeah, I had a lot of free time when I was a teeneger. I thought I had lost it forever, but luckily, I saved it on an email from 2014 and was able to recover this 'masterpiece' :P
I worked on this project for a few years before and during University. But it wasn't my first project, I started with RPG Maker 2000 shortly after it was released. Sadly, no project from that time survived :(
Back in the day I barely spoke english, so this project is in PT-BR, I'm sorry folks, I won't change it to English.
Also, an important disclaimer, mid-project I started learning to write scripts and completely revamped the combat system, my dream was to make something similar to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, so there are hotkeys to attack and use skills, instead of of entering the regular turn based combat. BUT, it was only after a massive part of the game was already made, and I abbandoned this project before finishing the integration of the new system, so if you play it for around 2/3 hours it will change the combat system and suddenly becomes super hard XD
When I was working on this project I also wanted to use only the assets available on the base RPG Maker XP, so you will see that I added only very few custom assets.
And talking about the game size again, this game has over 630 maps! Following the Zelda lead, I tried to make multiple small maps to cover a region, instead of a few big maps. (You will find my old attempt to put the maps together in a single image in the screenshots, but it becomes to big, it's split in two images and it still left a couple hundred maps out :P)
And finally, the game never received a name, I always called it my "little game", or in portuguese: Joguinho
I hope you have fun :D

I really like how you divided the maps into area chunks that are interconnected, or like you mentioned following the Zelda lead. That's always been my preferred method: To imply scale without using unneeded space. Really cool seeing it all put together.
Thanks a lot! I've recently tried to take a screenshot of each map to make a world map, but there are roughly 650 maps, so it was too much work :P
The total area of the game is around the same size of Zelda: A Link to the Past :D
